Anthropic announced Claude research into NIST elliptic curve seed origins. IT Home reports five seeds were traced to a pseudorandom generator initialized with Unix timestamps. This is not an ECDSA break; Anthropic says users need take no action.

- IT Home reports that timestamps from 1997 to 1998 can initialize lrand48 to reproduce the seeds, and that the team published reproduction code. [\[2\]](#hot-source-2)
- The report says the B-163 seed origin, some curve base-point generation methods and reasons for skipping certain usable candidate curves remain unexplained. [\[2\]](#hot-source-2)
