According to Anthropic, Claude Code 2.1.302 adds CLAUDE\_CODE\_AUTO\_MODE\_MODEL to select the client-side auto mode classifier's model without changing server-side auto mode. The config page also gains an idle compaction toggle.

- The Read tool now refuses image sources over 128 MB, preventing oversized images or pipes and devices named like images from being loaded entirely into memory. [\[1\]](#hot-source-1)
