Connect WorkBuddy

Add an Orbis custom model with the complete Chat Completions endpoint, then check that file tools work.

Connect to Orbis through WorkBuddy's Custom model provider. This page uses DeepSeek as an example. For installation, account sign-in and a complete file exercise, see the illustrated WorkBuddy beginner guide.

1. Prepare a model and key

On the DeepSeek V4.1 Flash page, choose a route that supports OpenAI Chat Completions and tool calling, then obtain a key for that route. An Orbis key does not replace your WorkBuddy account sign-in.

The key determines the route. Before changing models, confirm that the new model is available to the current key. To use another route, use a key bound to that route. Configure image input, reasoning and context parameters according to the route's capabilities.

2. Add a custom model

Open Settings → Models → Add model and select Custom:

FieldValue
API endpointhttps://api.orbiorbi.com/v1/chat/completions
API KEYYour Orbis key
Model namedeepseek-v4.1-flash, or the exact model ID for the current route
Advanced: tool callingEnable it, then verify with a file task
Advanced: custom protocolEnable it to request the complete URL as entered

Enter the complete endpoint here, not just /v1. With custom protocol enabled, WorkBuddy does not append a path automatically. Save, create a task and select the model from the custom-model group.

3. Check the connection and file tools

  1. Send “Reply only OK” and check the model, route and charge in Usage logs. The request uses API allowance.
  2. Select a workspace containing only practice material. In Agent mode, ask it to read a small file, then verify the tool record and content.
  3. Ask it to save a new file and open the result. A text response alone does not prove that file tools work.
